Fr. David Kidd

Father David D. Kidd is a priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo in America. Fr. David hails from Lima, Ohio. His parents are Kevin and Kathy Kidd and siblings are Andrew, John, and Elizabeth. His home parish is St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Fr. David graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School in 2005. After high school, Fr. David was a U.S. soldier for over 3 years in the Army National Guard for the State of Ohio. In 2008, he deployed to Kuwait with the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). During his time in the Army, Father David also attended Ashland University for two years studying Political Science and Economics.

After his deployment, Fr. David began seminary studies in the fall of 2009 at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from the Josephinum in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Philosophy. In the fall of 2011, he was sent by then Bishop Blair for priestly formation to the Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy. In 2014, he graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University completing a Bachelor’s in Sacred Theology (STB). He spent his pastoral internship year at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and St. Paul High School in Norwalk, Ohio. Fr. David was ordained a transitional deacon on March 28, 2015, and he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Toledo on June 25, 2016, by Bishop Thomas. 

He has lived and worked at a number of different assignments in preparation for the priesthood which included two summers with Catholic Charities in Toledo and summers at Perrysburg St. Rose of Lima Parish as well as the Toledo Diocese’s Priestly Vocations Office, Toledo St. Adalbert and St. Hedwig, Toledo St. Joseph, Crestline St. Joseph, Bethlehem Sacred Heart, Toledo St. Charles Borromeo, Toledo St. Hyacinth and St. Adalbert, Mercy St. Vincent Hospital’s Spiritual Care Office, and Sylvania St. Joseph.

Fr. David spent his first summer as a priest at Toledo Regina Coeli Parish as the parochial vicar. He returned to Rome in the fall of 2016 to complete his License in Sacred Theology (STL) with a focus on Fundamental Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Upon completion of his License in Sacred Theology, Fr. David was named by Bishop Thomas as the parochial vicar of Perrysburg Saint Rose Parish and started on July 1, 2017. Recently, Fr. David was named by Bishop Thomas as the pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Toledo and the priest leader at Central Catholic High School in Toledo which took effect July 1, 2019. He also served on the Presbyteral Council of the Toledo Diocese from 2019 as well as served as its vice-chairman from 2020-2022. He was nominated and knighted as a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem in 2020. He currently serves on the College of Consultors for Bishop Thomas having been appointed in April 2022. Fr. Kidd also was appointed by Bishop Thomas to serve on the Diocesan Priestly Vocations Board in July 2022. He was elected to the Priest Personnel Board and started in December 2023.

On July 1st, 2024, Fr. Kidd was appointed by Bishop Thomas as the Director of the Office of Diocesan Priestly Vocations. He was also appointed as a member to the Board of Governors for Central Catholic High School in July 2024.

In January 2025, Bishop Thomas appointed Fr. Kidd the chaplain of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) for the Diocese of Toledo.

In March 2025, Fr. Kidd was named the chaplain to the Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) Chapter for the Diocese of Toledo.
